Is anyone doing anything "fun" with the data? My 6th graders are doing this project and I'd like for them to manipulate the data, use it to make charts, etc. If you have good ideas of how for additional activities or lessons, I'd love to hear them.

Hi Marci!
I find the type of data GBE gets is very "user friendly" and can be used for a lots of activities! I personally like to use these data sets to teach interns at Fairchild low level statistics - usually descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVAs and the like.
I also use the data to talk about making scientific figures and what makes a good figure vs what make a not so great figure. This activity I call the "World's Worst Graph" where I challenge the students to make the worst graphs and figures they can think of (For example I've got a WWG from our education director that looks like a broken TV screen). I find when these kids, and myself as well, are making these graphs they learn a lot about what not to do when making their graphs.
Other than that, poster making is always a great way to make use of data (and in my opinion the best way to communicate it). I have a link here for making "Better Posters" and how using creativity with data can be really helpful! The video is a little more aimed at academics, but should be able to give you a good idea of how your students can go about some poster making.
Hello, I am looking for help downloading the log file from our growth chamber to a computer. We recently started this project with my 6th graders, but the data will not transfer even though the machine is connected to the computer with the correct cable and does not appear on the computer. Our school IT team was unable to resolve the issue. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.Thank you
